English is a difficult language!!
That was my thought when I first learned about what English is.
Because when people first get to know English, usually children are immediately introduced to grammar, which can make anyone afraid when they hear that we have to learn English. And that makes us not want to study English, until one day, when we become adults, we realize that English is very important in the working world, especially in the field of administration.
Then, is it too late for me to learn English?
I don’t know, I was confused too. But my friend said that learning has no age limit. Indeed, the ideal age to easily absorb learning is between 3 -7 years old.
Based on scientific research by Debbie Ravenscroft, who is a senior lecturer in early childhood studies, at the University of Chester, England. She revealed that children are like sponges they can absorb new skills better than adults. But that doesn’t mean it’s impossible for me to start learning at my current age, right? So starting from now, I will try to learn English.
Eh, but wait a second does. English have to follow grammar rules?
The answer is: NOT NECESSARILY.
Because according to people who are already fluent in English, they say that to speak English, we don’t always have to follow grammar strictly.
What’s most important is to expand our vocabulary. Long as our English can still be understood by the person we’re talking to, it’s not a big problem. But it would be better if our English follows proper grammar.
As long as our English can still be understood by the person we’re talking to, it’s not a big problem. But it would be better if our English follows proper grammar.
After hearing that, I became more motivated and tried to be braver in speaking English. Because there are many people who can speak English, but only a few who are brave enough to speak it.
So, what are you waiting for? Don’t you want to be the next brave person after me?
